The Nigerian League of Women Voters NLWV, has described the senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District, Elisha Abbo as disgrace to the Nigeria Senate, his mandate area of representation, his state and immediate family.
In a statement signed by the president of Nigeria League of Women Voters, Dame Dr. Esther Uduehi states, “NLWV is shocked by the barbaric asssault of Sen. Elisha Abbo from Adamawa State on an innocent Nigerian female who was dutifully performing her duties as a sales girl at a shop in Abuja.
“This action is very unbecoming of a
Senator and a disgrace to the Nigerian State and we the women are calling for his immediate arrest.
“It is in this light that we commend the swift action of the Inspector General of Police in setting up an inquiry into the matter and placing the culprit under arrest.
“We also commend the Senate President for setting up inquiry into this reported behavior and all well meaning Nigerians who have spoken on this ugly incident.
“We ask that this matter be swiftly handled at all fronts and that justice be done to avert such an action from any so called highly placed individual in the future and that the poor girl who has suffered this humiliation and torture be given a public apology amongst other things and she should be dully compensated for the damage done to her”. Dame Dr Uduehi said.
